Dinosaur Park in Dallas

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

The Dinosaur Park in Dallas is probably one of the few places that hold a special place in the hearts of East Texas Grade School students. It boasts two fiberglass dinosaurs, both of which are life-size: a 70 foot apatosaurus and a 45 foot tyrannosaurus rex. These two fiberglass figures welcome school buses and students as they reach the park’s entrance. This has become a very memorable landmark to the locals, and it is surely a site to visit whenever you are in town.

The Dinosaur park in Dallas is open from 8 in the morning to 10 in the evening, all year round. It’s a convenient place to visit because it has ample parking spaces. Admission tickets are also very affordable. Adults and seniors are charged $5, and children below the age of 12 can get in for free. The park also offers lower rates on bulk tickets for educational school trips. Camping is also a fun activity in the Dinosaur Park in Dallas. If you’re into an authentic outdoor experience, the park charges $12 per person. If you want to camp in spots with electric hookups, their rate is $20 a night.

While dinosaurs didn’t actually reside in this part of Dallas, the fiberglass figures represent the animals that once dwelled the 1,500 square foot park some 113 million years ago. While the park is clearly alive and filled with a lot of activities to do, the main reason why the Dinosaur Park in Dallas is so popular is because of the dinosaur tracks that are known to be the best-preserved ones in the world. In fact, the tracks found in the park are pretty much museum-worthy. Fossils taken from the dinosaur park have been on display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
